Planning Our Giving for 2008
Thursday, September 13th, 2007The weekly and monthly reports of our giving during this year reveal we consistently do not reach our budget. When we prepared the budget for this year we knew the weekly budget would be a challenge. We are not in a financial crisis because our offerings are slightly higher than the offerings in 2006. At the present rate we will finish the year short of our budgetary goal.
Your church leaders have decided we need a plan for our giving in the coming year. Our method of presenting the yearly budget to the church with periodic pleas for you to give generously and faithfully usually works until a church reaches an annual budget of about $250,000. Our present approach to the annual budget has reached its potential. Therefore, since our present approach is not successful we need a new plan to provide the resources for our ministries. We leaders will be presenting a plan for stewardship training to help us meet our giving goal for 2008. This stewardship emphasis is called Rock-Solid Giving and will be conducted four weeks at the end of October and early November.
I have previously been involved with several annual church stewardship campaigns. Though Christ’s Church has not conducted such campaigns before, I assure you that planning your giving for the coming year is a joyous experience. We seek God’s direction as we plan our giving and wait for God to produce the results. This approach will insure the church’s ministries continue to meet the needs of the church and community. Rock-Solid Giving will begin on Sunday, October 21, and will continue for four weeks until November 11. I am excited about how God will work through all of us.
In His Service,
Terry Jones, Senior Minister
