Spiritual Boot Camp is a Biblical Idea

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Spiritual Boot Camp is an orientation to prepare and equip leaders for the office of Elder. We are planning for 10 hours of study, prayer, and fellowship during the months of April, May, September, and October for both the presently serving Elders and the recruits. The idea of training for the office of Elder is consistent with Ephesians 4:11-13 which informs us that God gave leaders such as the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, and Pastors/Teachers to equip Christians to perform service for God within the church. In a meeting with Jim Steinmetz he told me no one accepts a new job or career without an orientation to the requirements of that position. As a church we pray for God to raise up and call Godly men to become Elders. Our responsibility is to prepare them for their service to God and His Church. We want quality leaders who will be equipped to lead us into the future to fulfill God’s purpose for His people. I have spoken to ministers in other churches about our plan to conduct this training and all of them have responded, “Let us know how it goes, we need it too.” I invite you to continue to pray for our leaders as we embark on this approach to leadership training at Christ’s Church. The future is exciting! God is already at work! If you have questions, please contact me. Have a wonderful week.

In His Service,
Terry Jones, Senior Minister
